Roommate of CMU suspect: 'I think my roommate just shot his mom'

"My son texted me at 9 o'clock this morning, and he said 'Ma, I think my roommate just shot his mom,'" said Williams. "I just told him to stay in his room, and I asked him what was going on."

Debra Williams is the mother of a CMU student who was a roommate to the suspect in Friday's double homicide.

She said her son, Trayvon Williams, lived in a four-person dorm room with James Eric Davis Jr., and he didn't know the suspect that well. But he was is the dorm when the shooting occurred.

"My son texted me at 9 o'clock this morning, and he said 'Ma, I think my roommate just shot his mom,'" said Williams. "I just told him to stay in his room, and I asked him what was going on."

Another roommate ran into Trayvon Williams' room, and they locked the door. Together, they called the police and were locked down at that point.

"It was about 15 minutes I didn't hear from my son," said Williams. "No text messages or any calls or anything like that. He finally called and said he was ok."

Once police came, Trayvon Williams saw the suspect's father laying across the bedroom floor.

Other CMU students were bussed to the Comfort Inn in Mount Pleasant which was where parents and university staff met them.

The university's spring break is starting, and many parents were already headed to the campus when the school was put on lockdown.

Debra Williams was still waiting to see her son at Comfort Inn on Friday afternoon, because he was still being questioned by police.
