HOOPESTON, Ill. (AP) - No students were seriously injured in an eastern Illinois school bus accident that involved a cow.

Hoopeston (HOOPS-tuhn) Area School District Superintendent Hank Hornbeck says the bus struck a loose cow Tuesday morning. The Commercial-News in Danville reports that the accident happened on Illinois Route 9 near Hoopeston.

Hornbeck says no one was seriously injured and four students were taken to a local hospital for precautionary measures. Parents were notified and another bus came to take students to school.

Hornbeck says the cow was the only casualty.

School district transportation director Mark Eighner says the bus wasn't heavily damaged.
