BELLEVILLE, Ill. – An iconic spot in Belleville turned 70 years old this month.
The Skyview Drive-In Movie Theater has been around since the 1940s. It held a big event on July 8. The Mayor of Belleville joined the celebration and there was some special pricing for loyal customers.
The family business started back in the 1940s.
“It’s a lot cheaper than going to the ballpark!” Steve Bloomer said.
It was built by Steve Bloomer’s grandfather and his two brothers in 1949.
Nostalgia at the Skyview Drive-In includes the slide on the playground and the concession stand.
Bloomer said it means a lot to keep the family legacy going.
You can find Skyview at 5700 N. Belt W in Belleville.
