St. Louis Cardinals purchase rookie Rangel Ravelo

The Cardinals bring up rookie player from Memphis and put Yairo Munoz on paternity leave.

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals have purchased the contract of rookie first baseman/outfielder Rangel Ravelo from Memphis (AAA). 

They have placed infielder, Yairo Muñoz on the paternity leave.

Ravelo, a 27-year-old rookie was batting .333 with 9 HR’s and 42 RBI in 63 games and has one error while playing first base this season. 

He has had stints with the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics organizations.

Munoz, 24, is batting .286 with 18 hits in 36 games this season.

Ravelo has been assigned to uniform No. 47. He will be making his major league debut this season with his first game appearance.
