Blues defenseman Chris Butler is hanging up his skates.
After 11 years in the NHL, the Kirkwood native has announced his retirement.
Butler came into the league in 2008, spending time with the Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues.
He came to his hometown team in 2014, and played in 58 games with the Blues tallying four goals and seven assists.
Last season, Butler had a goal and an assist in 13 regular season games.
A Chaminade grad, Butler shared a heartfelt letter on Wednesday, announcing his retirement.
"From lifting the Stanley Cup, to holding it for Bobby Plager as he drank a beer from it on the flight home, to the parade and partying with the entire city of St Louis, it was a hell of a way to cap my career off," Butler said in his letter.
