ST. LOUIS — People in St. Louis can witness the Great American Eclipse at 99% totality on April 8.
Here are the times to expect different phases of the eclipse. All times are in Central Daylight Time.
St. Louis partial eclipse start time
12:43:05 p.m. Partial eclipse begins. The moon begins to block the view of the sun for people viewing from St. Louis.
St. Louis peak eclipse time
2:00:45 p.m. Peak eclipse begins. The moon blocks 99.1% of the view of the sun for people viewing from St. Louis.
St. Louis partial eclipse end time
3:17:15 p.m. Partial eclipse ends. The moon is no longer blocking any part of the sun for people viewing from St. Louis.
Since St. Louis is only witness to a partial eclipse, viewers wear eye protection at any point when viewing the eclipse. Sunglasses do not provide enough eye protection.
Here are some of the cities within driving distance of St. Louis that are within the path of totality: Ste. Genevieve, Perryville, Cape Girardeau, Mount Vernon, and Carbondale. If you are traveling to a small city, town or rural area for the eclipse, make sure to bring a full gas tank and plenty of patience.
