ST. LOUIS — Eclipse day has arrived. With people traveling to the St. Louis area from around the world to view the eclipse, everyone will be looking to the sky to see if the weather will allow for ideal viewing.

Skies in Missouri and Illinois are looking pretty good for eclipse viewing.

The clouds today continue to be mainly cirrus clouds and only a few cumulus clouds.  There is a 50 to 80 percent chance that those high clouds stick around into the afternoon, but they should be thin enough that eclipse viewing won't be obstructed.

There is a 30% to 50% chance of some mid-level cumulus clouds that could threaten visibility a bit more, but viewing should be good for most people in the St. Louis area.

Area highways are experiencing backups as drivers head toward the path of totality. You can check your route before you go by clicking here.
