WOOD RIVER, Ill. — Food, live music, and fun that’s what you will find this weekend in Historic Downtown Wood River, Illinois.
The 6th Annual Food Truck Festival presented by the Wood River Business Alliance takes place this Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
"We have nine food trucks here, multiple vendors, and live music. Everyone should come hungry and ready to eat some great food," says Kristen Burns, the executive director of the Wood River Business Alliance. "We have Ferguson Ave. shut down, and all of the food trucks will be on Ferguson."
One of those food trucks is C-Rations Grub Hub from husband and wife duo, Christina and Hoover Harvey.
"We are a veteran-owned business, my husband and I are both retired veterans," Christina says.
They met on deployment and decided to open a food truck after coming home and starting their family. The name is a nod to their military background.
"Most people who are military associated or have been served or whatever they pick up on it instantly. In the military, our food is called Chow. Your portion of Chow is called a ration," Christina says.
C-Rations specializes in mexi-creole-soul dishes.
"I made that up because there was not a term that described my level of food," Christina says.
From tacos to gumbo and jambalaya, even fried cabbage and cornbread, C-Rations Grub Hub takes it to another level. And you can try it all this weekend in Wood River.
"What I will say is, if you have not had us, and you do have us at the food truck festival this weekend, it will be memorable. You'll sleep on it, and you will dream about it, and then you'll have to have it again," Christina says.
