Make Healthy Eating Easy by adding soy foods to your diet

ST. LOUIS — This morning on Show Me St. Louis Mary Caltrider talked with nutritionist, Jamie Lee about the benefits of adding soy to your diet. April is a great time to spring clean your meal planning routine in the kitchen. Maybe your family’s dinner menu needs a refresh, or perhaps you’re looking to make some healthier choices. Well what better way to do that than by getting a little inside knowledge from a nutrition expert? Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist, Jamie Lee McIntyre, joined Mary Caltrider this morning to share what's trending right now in food and nutrition. They discussed what counts as soy in your diet and a few healthy recipe ideas that include soy.

Nutritious food that can be used in meal prep is getting a lot of attention. The nutritional benefits that soy protein provides are really all the evidence you need to ramp up your soy intake into your diet.  First, it is a heart health protein that benefits bone health and cognitive health as well. It is a versatile ingredient that you can easily add to a peanut tofu bowl recipe. Soy is a high quality complete plant protein and low in saturated fat. Another easy way to add soy to your diet is to add edamame to a salad or soy milk to your smoothie.
