WATERLOO, Ill. — Greetings from Waterloo Illinois!
Just over the river sits the quaint Midwest town with oh so much to offer residents and visitors.
Beyond it being perfect place for a weekend getaway, it’s a great place to live and to invest.
Who better to spotlight all the great things Waterloo has to offer than Linda Frierdich and Nicole Geller? Linda is a relator and owner of Century 21. Nicole is their director of community relations, and both women are proud members of the Waterloo community.
"I love Waterloo because it's a small town atmosphere. You have everything here. You don't have to go far to get a steak dinner to a pizza or to get your haircut or to shop in a boutique. It's all right here," Frierdich says.
If you’re a foodie or a craft cocktail connoisseur, Waterloo has just what you are looking for, starting with where we are at today, Gallagher's.
"Well, when you walk in, you feel like you're in New York. I mean, it's beautiful. It took them around two years to remodel," Frierdich says.
Gallagher's has served award-winning food and drink for over a decade. The restaurant specialize in prime steaks, craft Cocktails and regulars rave about their martinis.
"My favorite is the Cosmo or a slightly dirty Kettle One with a blue cheese olive," Frierdich says.
Right down the street is Pie Hard which is known for Sunday Brunch and their signature pizzas.
"They have a lot of pop ups, too. So they're changing their menu, which is always fun. They also have some wonderful signature cocktails. So it's definitely a must try," Geller says.
After you have a bite and sip, there is no shortage of small, local businesses with items that you won’t find anywhere else, like Coming Home.
"We were just in there was decorated just like Christmas. You'll want to go," Frierdich says.
"There is also a florist shop that has a storefront as well that offers really great, cute, wreaths and different stuff for your home. Bountiful Blossoms, and that is just across the street from Gallagher's as well. But there is also the vintage shops. Those are always really fun," Geller says.
There sure is a lot waiting for you across the river in downtown Waterloo.
