Sponsored: Great Rivers & Routes Weekend Report Aug. 2-4

Show Me St. Louis is on hiatus but you can still check out these weekend events from August 2-4, sponsored by Great Rivers & Routes.
We're back with some amazing events to check out. The Great Rivers & Routes Weekend Report shares all the fun things in store this weekend.

Get ready to say goodbye to July, and hello to August. This weekend is the first weekend of August. Great Rivers and Routes has everything you need to make the most out of your weekend with their weekend report.

There's nothing like ringing in a new month than having a party! On Friday, August 2, the village of Pontoon Beach has its annual  Party at the Beach Festival with carnival rides, food and drink booths, and live music at Randall D. Dalton Veteran's Park!  Enjoy a fun evening in the park with friends and family. The event is free and starts at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, August 3, you and your family can explore downtown Virden, Illinois with the Route 66 Main Street Mingle Market. The market has a variety of vendors from charming thrift stores to unique furniture boutiques, and more. This is your chance to shop and eat from local vendors.  The Mingle Markert will occur on 140 North Dye Street from 10-6 p.m.

Finally, on Sunday, August 4, you can tour the historic Macoupin County Cannonball Jail. The jail was in service from 1869-1988 and was originally built to hold 17 prisoners, but sometimes it had twice that number.  Today, it is a popular tourist attraction and can be toured April - October from 9 AM - 4 PM daily or by appointment by calling 217-204-1446 or 217-825-9699. Tours are free- donations are accepted.
