ST. LOUIS — “Was it everything you hoped it would be?” “Yes and more,” says Wish Kid Addie.
At just one year old, Addie was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition. While the now 10 year old continues to work through some of the darkest days, one thing persists.
“I caught Big King, Salmon,” says Addie.
Her love for adventure!
“I also got to hold an ice berg.”
Thanks to the magic of Make a Wish, Addie and her family embraced the great Alaskan Wilderness for a trip of a lifetime! From fishing to dog sledding and everything in between! Addie finally got to explore Alaska just like her favorite Youtube channel, Outdoor Boys! However, Addie shares that her wish goes beyond the adventure, too.
“It gave me hope.”
Because for Make a Wish, it is not just a one time getaway. It is restoring the hope and joy that comes with being a kid. So, what does Make a Wish mean for addie?
“Family.”
“Our wish kids are a part of our family, not just when they get the wish but for all the years to come, ” says Taylor Rehmer, Associate Director of Business Development for Make a Wish.
Now, you can help adventurers just like Addie with the Walk for Wishes!
“It is a celebration for the 10,000 wishes we have granted, but also, to raise money for the 10,000 more,” says Rehmer.
The annual walk is the largest fundraiser for the Missouri and Kansas chapter. Enjoy a morning of dancing, celebrating, connecting and of course, walking. So that kids just like Addie can find their own adventure.
