Sponsored: Laurie's Shoes shares appreciation behind Midwest BankCentre

Laurie's Shoes began working with Midwest BankCentre in 2010 and the two have stood strong together.

ST. LOUIS — "People always want to walk in, be known. They want that service. They want that caring aspect," says Mark Waldman, the President and CEO of Laurie’s Shoes.

Founded by Mark’s parents and grandfather, Laurie’s Shoes has been serving the Saint Louis community since 1951.

"It started back actually when freestanding stores like this weren't in an abundance. It was about three miles from the Maplewood bus and people were coming out here because it was dirt road, taking the Maplewood bus and then their trucks or their cars on a dirt road," Waldman says.

The locally owned shoe store prides itself on exceptional customer service. While a lot has changed since they opened their doors in the 1950s, one thing has stayed the same: the service they provide.

"The mission is to make sure that we make our customers happy...so it's been really fun and it's carried through four generations," Waldman says.

One thing that has changed is their bank. Laurie's Shoes began working with Midwest BankCentre in 2010 and the two have stood strong together.

Midwest BankCentre has over 110 years of experience helping St. Louis businesses reach their potential and grow their commercial property from a trusted commercial lender.

Eric Whitford is the senior vice president of commercial services at Midwest BankCentre.

"Mark is a very personable guy. He believes in service first, customer service first and Midwest BankCentre is really aligned in that same mentality where our customers are our bloodline," Whitford says.

"From a technology point of view, you don't have to give up service for technology. We still have that service and that personal touch and that's important. That's what we do. And I'm looking for the same thing in other businesses and we found the bank," Mark says.
