ST. LOUIS — June 14 is World Blood Donor Day, a good reminder for Americans to step-up and donate blood. The U.S. is currently experiencing a blood shortage, and studies are showing that many people under 30 are less likely to donate. Fear of needles and anxiety about the process can keep donors of all ages on the sidelines.
Friday morning, blood donor Maggie Schmidt, stopped by Show Me St. Louis. Schmidt shared her experience donating blood for the first time using a new mix-reality experience developed by healthcare technology company, Abbott and Blood Centers of America. Schmidt shares how the experience helped her ease her feelings of anxiety with needles. In fact, Schmidt is proud to announce she is now a life long donor.
