OAKVILLE, Mo. — If there’s two things I love it’s a neighborhood bar and good pizza. So, when I heard about the stantossed pizza at Nubby’s Telegraph I had to make a trip out to Oakville.
Todd and Tina Dinsmoor are the owners of Nubby’s Telegraph.
"Nubby's is just your neighborhood barbeque spot. We have great pizza and great sandwiches. Everything's house-made, and we just want to be a staple in our community," says Todd Dinsmoor.
After buying the Oakville spot from its previous owner, Todd, took his 20-plus years of chef experience to bring something new to the menu.
"During COVID, I started playing with pizza doughs and just kind of honed in on that craft. We have an amazing thin-crust pizza as well, but we started the hand-tossed option and people just loved it," he says.
I even asked one of the regulars to confirm.
Joe Brogan is a frequent visitor of Nubby's Telegraph. And his favorite dish on the menu?
"I actually love the hand-tossed pizza," Brogan says.
There's even a hashtag that's caught on with the Nubby's community. #Stantossed. It's a play on words in honor of the kitchen manager, Stan Koenig.
"I acquired Stan with the business. He's been here since day one. He's the main pizza maker here," Dinsmoor says.
Stan the pizza man is no stranger to tossing pizza dough. He's been at for 15 years.
Everyone agrees, "You've gotta come for the #stantossed," Koenig says.
Beyond the pizza, Nubby’s is offering a Christmas Eve brunch for the first time. They will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on December 24th. Reservations and walk-ins are available.
"Get your main staples, you know, bacon and eggs. We're doing a French toast that's going to be griddled with bacon and maple custard, eggs benedict, biscuits, and gravy," Dinsmoor says.
Whether it’s for brunch or the famous #stantossed pizzas, you're sure to feel welcome at this neighborhood spot in Oakville. And if you’re lucky, you might just leave with leftovers.
