Sponsored: Tackle Hunger 2023 Campaign Wrap Up

Neighbors Credit Union and Operation Food Search stopped by Television Plaza to wrap up this year's Tackle Hunger campaign.

ST. LOUIS — It's been quite a season of high school football and some friendly competition between local high schools. 18 schools competed to tackle hunger by collecting non-perishable food donations throughout the months of September and October.

On our final Tailgate Friday of the year, our host, Mary Caltrider joined representatives from Neighbors Credit Union, Paula Anderson and Ken Leach, as well as the CEO of Operation Food Search Kristen Wild, live on Television Plaza. All three helped to wrap up this year's campaign and share the totals.

Drumroll please.... Tackle Hunger has exceeded their goal this year and has a grand total of 68,722 pounds of food donated. Shout out to Columbia High School and Freeburg Community High School for being the top two schools with the most donations. The total donations equaled $120,470.50 which will provide quality nutrition to 17, 388 people.

Wild helped discuss what the donations mean to the organization and how it can help solve food insecurity in the St. Louis area. Mary Caltrider talked to Leach about his special connection to football and the teamwork that it takes to be involved in something for the greater good.

We ended the show with a special moment of a check being donated to Operation Food Search with a total of $1800. The check represents the $100 given to every school that participated this year.
