Sponsored: The Mannequins Project returns to the Delmar Loop for the 15th year

The community art project aims to bring awareness to the importance of sustainability by using recyclable materials to bring the mannequins to life.

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. — For 15 years, the Mannequins Project has turned Delmar Boulevard into a walking art installation from Earth Day through the beginning of June. The community art project aims to bring awareness to the importance of sustainability by using recyclable materials to bring the mannequins to life.

Artists team up with participating University City businesses to create their mannequins. This morning, Mary Thaier met up with artist Dean Schultz and the owner of Enigma Tattoo, Jerry S.

Dean is a tattoo artist at Enigma and his mannequin is named Renew. The back is painted with a phoenix tattoo to incorporate the business into the art. Recyclables were used to create the outfit.

Visit mannequinsproject.com to find an interactive map that will lead you to each mannequin and to vote for your favorite. You can vote daily through June 9.
