O'FALLON, Ill. — On a beautiful Saturday evening, thousands gathered in O’Fallon, Illinois for the annual City Fest Parade.
The parade is the pinnacle of the two-day festival, serving as a community homecoming.
Mayor Herb Roach says this homecoming is a special occasion for his family.
"My great-granddaughter, Leighton Crowe, she was just announced to be the princess for the 2024 City Fest,' Roach says.
It is a family legacy in O’Fallon. 70 years ago, Mayor Roach was crowned Prince of the O’Fallon Homecoming in 1954.
The parade was full of the characters of O'Fallon, Illinois, from prince and princess to the Anaid Shriners clowns, and even the Monopoly man.
O’Fallon Township High School pride was on display as the cheer and dance teams, along with the marching band hit the parade route.
And of course, the 5+ Bus alongside Scott Credit Union's hummer joined in on the fun.
"This community is in our backyard. Scott Credit Union's base is over here...this our community and we want to show our community we are here," says Teresa Harmon with Scott Credit Union.
