ST. LOUIS — Today at the YMCA, the Show Me Games takes on two sports. Mary, Malik, and I got our heads in the game, this time, for Volleyball and Basketball.
"At the YMCA, we're super excited about the Olympics, especially because two of the most popular sports, volleyball and basketball were actually invented at the YMCA. We're able to offer year-round sports for children in the area with varying ages, abilities, and skill levels," says Kimberly Melahn.
Melahn is a Senior Program Director for the YMCA, but for the Show Me Games, she's our coach!
"A lot of the emphasis that we have in our youth sports programming at the Y is about gaining confidence, building positive relationships, and developing new skills, and some of those skills are going to be developed right here today with you all so we'll be doing some really team bonding drills as well as basic skills like spiking with a spike competition, as well as other just really fun ways to make sure that we are learning but also having fun," she says.
