ST CHARLES, Mo. — Lindenwood University is preparing to welcome the young and young-at-heart for an evening filled with holiday wonder. On December 3rd, the university quite literally lights up.
"Winterfest is truly like a Hallmark movie," says Dr. Jennifer Edler, the director of alumni relations at Lindenwood.
All are invited for an evening stroll through 2,000 luminaries on the Heritage side of campus.
"It is a free event and we invite all of our community, neighbors, friends, families to come back to campus and alumni to come back to campus and enjoy and share the peace, the joy, the love, the celebration that we have here," Edler says.
Guests will have a chance to carol with Lindenwood’s acapella group, Voices Only, decorate holiday cookies, create holiday crafts, listen to holiday stories read by Mrs. Claus, take family photos in a real sleigh, and tell Santa their Christmas wishes.
"You'll be drinking your hot chocolate, watching the kids running around laughing, showing the excitement that they have to see all the animals and the different activities we have here to offer," Edler says.
And it is the season of giving! Guests are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Salvation Army, and if you do, you will receive a Winterfest t-shirt while supplies last.
"It's just beautiful and it is just very heartwarming," Edler says.
