Report: St. Louis native signs largest deal in NBA history

According to ESPN on Monday, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics have agreed on a five-year, $314 million maximum contract extension.

BOSTON — St. Louis native and basketball star Jayson Tatum has signed the largest deal in National Basketball League history, a report says. 

According to ESPN on Monday, Tatum and the Boston Celtics have agreed on a five-year, $314 million maximum contract extension. It will become the largest deal in NBA history.

The 26-year-old grew up in University City. He attended and played for Chaminade College Preparatory School in Creve Coeur. 

He was drafted by the Celtics third overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. He's been with the team ever since. 

Tatum and the Celtics won the 2024 NBA Final with a series victory over the Dallas Mavericks. It became the franchise's 18th NBA title and Tatum's first. 

He is a five-time All-Star and won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. He is set to be part of Team USA in the Paris Olympics this summer.
