COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri Tigers are bowl-bound!

No. 9 Mizzou will face No. 7 Ohio State University in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN.

It's almost too good to be a coincidence, since the last time Mizzou was ranked ninth in the country, they also played in the Cotton Bowl Classic in 2014. That match off was against No. 13 Oklahoma State, who the Tigers defeated 41-31 to claim the school's second-ever Cotton Bowl championship.

Time will tell if the Tigers secure a third.

The Tigers finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and a No. 9 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25, putting them in a position to play in a New Year's Six bowl game. This was the team's best regular-season record since 2014.

See the team's reaction to the news here:

Running back Cody Schrader led the SEC with 1,489 rushing yards and fifth overall with 13 touchdowns. Quarterback Brady Cook was third overall in passing yards with 3,189 and also had eight touchdowns throughout the season. Wide receiver Luther Burden III was another huge help to Mizzou with 1,197 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
