After only playing a couple minutes in his debut, highly regarded Missouri freshman Michael Porter Jr. is suffering from a mysterious ailment.

Porter left the season opener against Iowa State after "tweaking" his hip two minutes into the game, after scoring just two points.

Porter then missed the Tigers game against Wagner on Monday and afterward coach Cuonzo Martin said Porter was resting his leg, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“I don’t know how serious it is,” Martin told reporters after the game. “It’s hard for me to say that. But I think it’s day to day. That’s the best assessment for me to say right now: It’s day to day.

“I understand you want that information. The truth of the matter is I’m not a doctor. I can’t give you more than that. I don’t want give you more than that. It’s not my job to give that out of respect for Mike and his family. So I think the best thing is (saying) day to day. If I had more I’d give you more.”

Then Thursday, Missouri sports information director Patrick Crawford told CBS Sports that Porter wasn't with the team at Utah, something Martin said on Monday he wasn't sure of. But, Crawford didn't say why.

"Out of respect for Michael's health and privacy, no, there is not a stated reason," Crawford told CBS Sports.

The Tigers suffered their first loss of the year to the Utes, 77-59

Monday, Missouri will play Emporia State, then Thanksgiving Day, the Tigers play Long Beach State,in the quarterfinals of the Advocare Invitational in Orlando.
