ARLINGTON, Texas — The University of Missouri Tigers year ended like the season played out with the trio of St. Louis natives playing starring roles.
Brady Cook, Cody Schrader and Luther Burden III all dazzled in the 88th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic win over Ohio State.
Mizzou defeated Ohio State 14-3 Friday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
"It's hard to put into words, but you know, what it means to me is, I mean, I'm proud of first of all, I'm proud of this the school, the fan base, my teammates, my coaches," Brady Cook said. "I mean, I am so proud because this is how you cap off a season after bouncing back like that is how you cap it off."
Cook threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Burden with 5:12 left in the game extending Mizzou's lead over Ohio State.
"I just know I had to get my hands all. You know, I'd do anything for these boys in that locker room," Burden said. "So whatever it is, man, that kind of made me do it."
All-American running back Cody Schrader ran for 128 yards and a touchdown in the 14-3 win.
"This is the icing on top, man. And I can, in my football career, at ease and at peace, knowing I gave it everything I had, man," Schrader said. "And I'm just so happy to be here right now."
