LAS VEGAS (AP) - Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is accused of stiffing a Las Vegas jewelry company out of $1.4 million of the cost of a diamond-encrusted necklace he bought the weekend after his final fight in September 2015.

The Jewelers Inc. alleges in a business lawsuit filed in Nevada state court that Mayweather paid $1.6 million toward the $3 million necklace consisting of 72 round-cut diamonds, but he hasn't made a payment since May.

Mayweather representative Leonard Ellerbe and an attorney who represents Mayweather in civil court actions didn't immediately respond Tuesday to messages.

Ellerbe told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Mayweather had no comment about the lawsuit. It was filed Sept. 23.

Mayweather is 39. Forbes listed him as the world's highest-paid athlete in 2015, making $300 million.
