ST. LOUIS — The San Antonio Brahmas defeated the St. Louis Battlehawks 25-15 in the XFL Conference Championship at The Dome at America's Center.
St. Louis defeated San Antonio in the final regular-season game 13-12, securing home-field advantage for the XFL Conference Championship. A ticket to the United Football League Championship was on the line on Sunday.
In the first quarter, Brahmas' quarterback Chase Garbers completed a 15-yard pass to Stevenson for a touchdown. San Antonio then completed a one-point conversion, 7-0.
San Antonio's Justin Smith caught and completed a 63-yard touchdown on the second quarter's first play. The Brahmas one-point conversion was stopped by St. Louis, 13-0.
Battlehawks' kicker Andre Szmyt completed a 46-yard field goal for the team's only points of the first half, 13-3.
In the second half, the Brahmas' McFarland rushed for 69 yards to extend the lead to 19-3. The Battlehawks responded with a seven-play, 60-yard drive down the field ending with a pass to Jake Sutherland for a touchdown.
St. Louis got back within one score after linebacker Pita Taumoepenu recovered a fumble from San Antonio to make it 19-15.
San Antonio Kicker Ryan Santoso extended the team's lead with a touchdown near the end of the third quarter, 22-15. Santoso was able to tack on another field goal to bring the lead back to two scores, 25-15.
The UFL Championship will take place on June 16 at The Dome. The Birmingham Stallions beat the Michigan Panthers in the USFL Championship on Saturday to secure their ticket to the championship.
