One of the big reasons the Cardinals signed Dexter Fowler to a big deal in the offseason was his clubhouse presence and his charisma.
The Cardinals are not the only ones who have taken notice of this trait. Folwer has appeared in national commercials for T-Mobile and tomorrow he will appear on MLB Network's "Play Ball."
"Play Ball" is a show geared toward children. It features MLB stars reminiscing about reaching the Majors, providing advice to kids trying to get better at the game, and sharing tips in one-on-one demonstrations with MLB Network analysts.
During the show, hosted by former Cardinal Mark DeRosa, Fowler explains that as a kid he was, "a Braves fan, but I was more of a Mariners fan because I loved Griffey. ‘The Kid.’”
He also explained how he became a switch hitter, "“I started switch hitting when I got to pro ball. I was goofing off in the cage and they came to me and was like, ‘Hey, have you ever switch hit?’ and I was like, ‘No.’ They were like, ‘Well, you’ve got a nice swing.’ The next day they call me into the office and I think I’m in trouble and they’re like, ‘We want you to start switch hitting’ and I was like, ‘Alright.’”
The episode will air tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. on the MLB Network.
