Jayson Tatum tweeted at LeBron James when he was 14, now they’re meeting in the NBA Eastern finals

In a tweet on April 13, 2012, Tatum asked LeBron for a follow.

ST. LOUIS - Even though St. Louis doesn’t have a professional basketball team, we have a St. Louisan to cheer for.

St. Louis’ Jayson Tatum is having one heck of a rookie year with the Boston Celtics. The Chaminade grad is averaging 18.8 points per game in the postseason.

Six years ago, he just wanted a follow on Twitter from NBA star LeBron James and now he’ll be facing his team in the eastern conference finals. The tweet resurfaced after Boston defeated Philadelphia 114-112 on Wednesday, eliminating the 76ers from the playoffs.

Tatum scored 25 points in Game 5 against the 76ers and became the third player in NBA playoffs history to score 25 plus points in a series-clinching win at age 20 or younger, joining Magic Johnson and Tony Parker.

In a tweet on April 13, 2012, Tatum asked James for a follow.

As of Thursday, James does not follow Tatum. He only follows 181 people, including St. Louis native Ezekiel Elliot, Drake, 76ers rookie Ben Simmons, Doris Burke, J. Cole and Rihanna.

The Celtics take on the Cavaliers in Game 1 on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
