ST. LOUIS – St. Louis native and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum got to help design his own pair of Nike Air Max 97s.
The shoes pay homage the Lou and his high school – Chaminade College Preparatory School.
Illustrations on the new Nike Air Max 97 represent his St. Louis roots, with graphics of the Gateway Arch, '314' area code and more. They’re covered in the Red Devils’ colors and honor Tatum’s son, Deuce.
The Nike Air Max 97 by Jayson Tatum will be released on June 13 at House of Hoops by Foot Locker and June 15 across the Foot Locker family of brands, Nike said.
Tatum was among three players who got to put their own spin on classic Nike silhouettes - the other two were De'Aaron Fox and Devin Booker. Each of the shoes were crafted through collaborative sessions with Nike designers.
