Giancarlo Stanton has been told to either waive his no-trade clause or be part of a rebuild with the Miami Marlins, according to a report from the Miami Herald.
Stanton has told the team he doesn't want to be on the team if it is rebuilding and the Marlins are in that mode. They want to move his $295 million contract -- $25 million next season -- in order to get their payroll to $90 million, according to the report.
The report says that the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants are the only teams that have formally shown interest in trading for Stanton.
The report says the team might also trade infielders Dee Gordon and Martin Prado to get to the $90 million.
