Adam Wainwright joins MLB Network broadcast team for 2024 season

Wainwright retired from baseball last year, but he'll still be involved in the game this year.

ST. LOUIS — If you were worried about missing Adam Wainwright after his retirement last season, there's another place to see him this season.

On Tuesday, Major League Baseball announced Waino would be an on-air analyst for MLB Network this season.

“I’m very excited to join MLB Network’s All-Star cast for the 2024 baseball season,” Wainwright said in the announcement. “I love the game of baseball and breaking down the art of pitching. Hopefully, I can bring some expertise and real-life experience to those who are watching at home.”

He will make his network debut on MLB opening day on March 28. He will also be part of MLB Network's coverage of MLB at Rickwood Field in Alabama.

It's the second new job Wainwright has picked up since retiring last year. He will also be an analyst during game broadcasts for Fox Sports.

Waino is not the only member of the MLB Network team with a St. Louis connection.

Wainwright's former teammates Albert Pujols, Xavier Scruggs and Mark DeRosa are all part of the network's coverage.

“From pitching in the game’s biggest moments to impacting lives off the field, this is one of the great guys our sport has to offer," former teammate Mark DeRosa said in the announcement. "MLB Network got way better today.”

Lindenwood University graduate Greg Amsinger is one of the network's primary hosts, and Bob Costas is a host and play-by-play announcer.
