ST. LOUIS ā€“ Former St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Chris Duncan said he will be taking a leave of absence from his role with 101 ESPN to battle a brain tumor again.

Duncan, who is the son of longtime pitching coach Dave Duncan, won a World Series with the Cardinals in 2006. Since he retired in 2009, Duncan joined the world of sports media as the co-host of the midday show ā€˜The Turnā€™ on 101 ESPN.

He helped his mother fight brain cancer back in 2011, then found out he would have to endure the battle himself.

In the years since he started his own battle, he returned to the airwaves as a light-hearted voice with inside knowledge of what it takes to be a big leaguer. But on Tuesday, Duncan struck a more serious tone and announced that he would have to step away from the show to focus on his health.

You can hear Dunc for yourself here.

Now that he will be focusing solely on his health, he tweeted what he intends to do this time around.
