What you need to know about parking, transportation for Cardinals' home opener

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals' home opener is slated for Thursday, April 4, at Busch Stadium where the Redbirds will challenge the Miami Marlins.

The game will start at 3:15 p.m. at the stadium located at 700 Clark St. in downtown St. Louis. Clark Street will be closed in between the stadium and Ballpark Village. 

The pep rally will take place at Ballpark Village between 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There will be music, free events and Fredbird in attendance.

The gates to the stadium open at noon when all fans, ages 21 and older, could have the chance to receive a magnet that features the 2024 Cardinals schedule provided by Budweiser.

There are several ways to travel to and from the stadium, including driving or public transit. 

Where to park at Busch Stadium

Parking at the Starr Lot and One Cardinal Way Garage can be purchased as part of your Cardinals ticket purchase, but there are also plenty of other nearby lots and garages to choose from.

Starr Lot

"Conveniently located directly across the street from Gate 2, on the southwest side of Busch Stadium, the Starr Lot offers easy access and a secure location for every Cardinals home game. Starr Lot parking can be purchased as part of your overall ticket purchase, or separately using the links below," according to the MLB website. 

One Cardinal Way Garage (269 S. Broadway)

"Pre-purchase your parking in the One Cardinal Way Garage at Ballpark Village! The entrance located at 269 S. Broadway, the One Cardinal Way Garage opens 4 hours before scheduled game time. Passes can be purchased as part of your overall ticket purchase, or separately using the links below," according to the MLB website.

Meter parking:

Here’s everything you need to know about metered parking in St. Louis. Keep in mind street parking can be scarce near Busch Stadium during Cardinals games.

Parking meters are monitored from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, according to St. Louis City parking policies. However, some multi-space meters are operational 24/7 in various lots throughout the city. 

Parking at meters is free on Sundays and on city holidays.

Where to take public transit

Metro Transit released a guide for fans wanting to take advantage of public transit on opening day.

MetroLink

MetroLink riders can park their vehicles at any of the 20 free Park-Ride lots at MetroLink stations in Missouri and Illinois, buy a $5 round-trip MetroLink fare, and then ride to the Stadium MetroLink Station, which is right next to Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village.

There are also five other MetroLink stations in downtown St. Louis that if you're heading to other festivities and rallies taking place throughout downtown.

MetroBus

Thirteen MetroBus routes will serve downtown St. Louis at the Civic Center Transit Center, which is located three blocks west of Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village. A one-ride MetroBus fare is $1.
