ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals announced on Friday who will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame this year.

The 2024 Hall of Fame Class includes Matt Morris, Whitey Kurowski and Dave Duncan. A ceremony will be held at Ballpark Village on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Morris was chosen by the fans and was the top vote-getter in the Cardinals Hall of Fame online voting ballot.

He played eight seasons with St. Louis, achieving a .620 winning percentage and ranks fourth in franchise history among pitchers with at least 1,000 innings, a news release said. Morris also ranks sixth on the Cardinals' all-time strikeouts list with 986 and was a two-time All-Star.

Kurowski was selected by the Red Ribbon Committee, a group comprised of 13 St. Louis baseball experts.

He was the team's starting third baseman during St. Louis' 1940s dynasty, playing for the 1942, 1944 and 1946 World Series champions. Kurowski was selected to the National League All-Star team for five straight seasons and played 869 games at third base, the fourth most in the franchise, the release said.

Duncan was an organizational selection by the Cardinals. He is a former pitching coach for the team and served as such for 16 seasons from 1996-2011. He worked alongside Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa.

Under Duncan, the Cardinals ranked in the top half in the NL in ERA during 12 seasons, the release said. He also mentored four Cardinals 20-game winners and was part of the 2006 and 2011 World Series champions.

“We take great pride in the selection process we use for electing new members of the Cardinals Hall of Fame,” said Bill DeWitt Jr., Cardinals Chairman and CEO. “I’d like to thank our fans as well as the Red Ribbon Committee who cast their votes for this year’s induction class. Congratulations to Matt Morris, Dave Duncan, and the late Whitey Kurowski on this tremendous honor. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of these players during our induction ceremony in September.”
