ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled outfielder Jordan Walker and have placed Matt Carpenter on the injured list.
Walker, 22, was recalled from Triple-A Memphis Redbirds where he has played most of the 2024 season. He began the season with the Cardinals but struggled and was sent down on April 24.
In Memphis, he has batted .357 with nine homers and 33 RBIs in 78 games.
Walker was selected by the Cardinals in the 2020 MLB Draft by St. Louis. He made his major league debut in 2023 and hit .276 with 16 home runs in 117 games.
Walker will play right field and bat seventh in the order when the Cardinals face off against the Cincinnati Reds Monday evening.
Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain, the team said. The 38-year-old is hitting .255 with three homers in 42 games this season.
He was signed by St. Louis ahead of the 2024 season on a one-year deal.
