KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs will start the defense of their Super Bowl title at home against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, but you won't find that game on the channels you normally would.
In December, NBC Universal announced that the Saturday night playoff game on Jan. 13 would be available exclusively on the Peacock streaming app. On Sunday, the playoff schedule was solidified, and the matchup between the defending champion Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins was selected for that timeslot.
Unlike previous playoff games that were available on streaming, Saturday's game will not be simulcasted on another network. The game will be broadcast locally on television in the markets for each team, Kansas City and Miami.
The game will be a rematch of the Week 9 matchup in Frankfurt, Germany. The Chiefs won that game 21-14.
Peacock does not offer any free streaming options, and, as of Monday, has not indicated there will be a free way to watch the game. The cheapest option is a $5.99 per month subscription that can be canceled at any time.
In addition to a subscription, viewers will also need a supported device, which includes Windows and Mac computers, select Roku models, Android and iOS devices and select FireTV devices.
