ST. LOUIS — The defending Stanley Cup champion Blues will see their depth put to the test once again this season.
The team announced Wednesday that forward Sammy Blais will be out for a while with a wrist injury he suffered in Tuesday night's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Blais is scheduled for surgery to repair the injury. The team said he will be re-evaluated in 10 weeks.
The 23-year-old Blais is in his third season with the Blues, and has five goals and three assists in 20 games this season.
In a corresponding move, the Blues announced they had signed forward Troy Brouwer to a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000.
Brouwer joined the team earlier this season on a professional tryout. This is Brouwer's second stint in St. Louis. He was with the team in 2016, and helped them advance to the Western Conference Final.
