Blues fans pack the Enterprise Center & Union Station for the home opener

Fans enjoyed live music, food, drinks and a special appearance from the new team captain, Brayden Schenn.

ST. LOUIS — It was a sea of blue in downtown St. Louis as the Blues played their first home game of the year against the Seattle Kraken at the Enterprise Center.

Before the puck dropped, fans with or without a ticket went to the annual pep rally at Union Station where they enjoyed live music, food, drinks and a special appearance from the new team captain, Brayden Schenn.

In a crowd full of fans–young and old, Schenn called the moment to be team captain a 'huge honor'.

So who are Blues fans counting on this year to lead the team to victory in their 57th season? Fan Norm Smith has his eyes on the goalie.

"Binnington, the guys still got it, he's there," Smith said. "He's going to block them and everybody is going to get it together and win"

Fan Donnie Happel has his pick with the forwards.

"I'm excited to see the young kids play. I'm excited to see what Neighbours and Vrana can do and of course Thomas and Kyrou," Happel said.

"I love Brayden Schenn, he's been such a linchpin for this team and for him to be captain it seems like a no brainer," Michelle Crosnoe, another Blues fan, said.

The team has one Stanley Cup under their belt. And it's no secret fans have big expectations for the season.

"I'm really expecting a really great season and heading the playoffs with a really strong team," Blues fan, Matthew Couch said.

"The playoffs, right off the bat of course….Stanley Cup probably…playoffs for sure," Smith said.

Some are more brutally honest than others...

"I'm expecting a good, competitive team. Maybe not the best but we'll be competitive and hopefully make the playoffs," Happel said.
