Blues prospect Jimmy Snuggerud scores hat trick in first 13 minutes of World Juniors game

Snuggerud showed why he is one of the top prospects in the Blues system.

ST. LOUIS — The top talents under the age of 20 in international hockey are on display in Sweden for the World Junior Championship, and one of the top prospects in the St. Louis Blues organization is showing out.

Jimmy Snuggerud, the Blues' first-round pick in 2022, is one of the forwards for the high-scoring American team that is expected to compete for a medal. In Team USA's group play game against Switzerland, Snuggerud didn't waste any time in showing off his skills.

Just three minutes and 21 seconds into the game, he scored his first goal of the game to put the United States up 2-0. Five minutes later, he scored again to make the score 3-0.

Then, after the Swiss got a goal of their own, Snuggerud completed his hat trick just 12 minutes and 36 seconds into the game.

Snuggerud also scored in Team USA's first game of the tournament and tallied an assist later in the game against Switzerland. His four goals are tied with teammate Gavin Brindley for most in the tournament.

Team USA's next game will be against Slovakia at 5 a.m. on Sunday.
