St. Louis Blues place Faulk on long-term injured reserve; 2021 draft pick to make NHL debut

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues placed one of its defensemen on injured reserve and recalled its 2021 first-round draft pick, who is set to make his National Hockey League debut on Thursday.

The team announced it recalled forward Zach Bolduc, 20, from the Springfield Thunderbirds, its AHL affiliate. He is expected to make his NHL debut Thursday night against the New York Islanders.

In the Blues' projected lineup, he is slated to start on the second line with captain Brayden Schenn and Jake Neighbours. 

He was selected No. 17 overall in the 2021 NHL Draft from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He spent a total of four seasons in the QMJHL recording 145 goals and 145 assists (290 points) in 208 games. 

Bolduc has played in 48 games for the Thunderbirds this season. He has 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists), best for seventh on the team overall. 

The Blues also on Tuesday placed defenseman Justin Faulk on long-term injured reserve and defenseman Scott Perunovich on injured reserve.

Faulk has missed the past 10 games and Perunovich has missed the past seven, both with lower-body injuries.

On Thursday, Perunovich was activated from injured reserve and is slated to return to the lineup. Defenseman Calle Rosen was assigned to the Thunderbirds. 

St. Louis has lost three of its last four games and has an overall record of 29-24-2.
