5 things to know about Team USA's Freddie Crittenden

Who is Olympian Freddie Crittenden? Here are some fast facts about the track and field athlete.

ST. LOUIS — Freddie Crittenden III has already made history in the men's 110-meter hurdles before his debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

He competes for a medal in the event at 2:45 p.m. CDT on Aug. 8. He could be the first American to win gold since 2012. Click here to watch the final live.

Here are five things to know about the St. Louis native:

  1. He attended McCluer North High School before his family moved to Utica, Michigan.
  2. Crittenden competed in the 2019 Pan-American Games, winning silver in 110m hurdles.
  3. His qualifying race at the Olympic Trials in Oregon was the first time in history that the top three finishers all had sub-13 second times. 
  4. His previous top finish was at the 2023 World Championships, where he placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdle race.
  5. Eleven family members get to see Crittenden compete on the global stage in person, thanks to $20,000 raised on GoFundMe and local donations.
