EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — East St. Louis high school grad Dawn Harper-Nelson is no stranger to Olympic competition. She grew up inspired by Olympic great Jackie Joyer-Kersee. Harper-Nelson made the U.S. Olympic team twice.
She won gold at the 2008 Olympics in the women’s 100-meter hurdles in Beijing. She took silver in the same event four years later at the games in London.
In 2024, Harper-Nelson is back for the Olympics, but this time as a broadcaster for NBC. She’ll be a part of the morning track and field coverage throughout the Paris summer games.
