PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Gus Kenworthy is going into Olympic competition banged up.

A day after posting an X-ray and photo of his broken right thumb, Kenworthy detailed getting a hematoma on his hip drained.

Kenworthy posted on his Instagram story Friday that he had six vials of blood drained from the hematoma.

“Between my hip and my thumb, I’m feeling pretty wrecked,” he said.

Kenworthy, the Sochi silver medalist, has the day off Saturday before competing on Sunday. He said on Instagram that he would take the day to rest and watch friend Adam Rippon in figure skating and the women’s ski slopestyle competition.

The brace his thumb is in could also affect how he grabs his skis on tricks, a required part of his run that affects the overall style he will be judged on.
