Considering a last-minute trip to the Paris Olympics? Here's how much it would cost you

We checked to see what it might cost for a last-minute ticket to the Summer Olympics.

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. — It shouldn't be a surprise that if you want to see the Paris Olympics in person, it's going to cost a pretty penny. But how many? We ran the numbers one month out from the Summer Games.

If you're wondering if you can still go, the answer is yes.

Flights

The first thing you'll want to book is flights. Let's say you want to arrive on July 25, one day before the opening ceremony. According to Expedia, one ticket on a roundtrip flight from St. Louis Lambert International Airport will cost about $950 to $1,000 if you're staying for a week.

If you stay for two weeks, you could save a little cash but not much. The cheapest tickets start at around $900.

Hotels

When you're looking for a place to stay, there are several options online. Some are less than $200 a night, but they are a little far out from the Eiffel Tower. Five-star hotels and those closest to the games themselves will cost you closer to $1,000 a night.

You can also check back to see Olympics hospitality packages, though they aren't always easy to navigate. Right now, you'll likely sit in a virtual queue as interest grows with last-minute bookings.

Games tickets

If you want to buy tickets, there are a lot of different options.  You can usually search by country or category.

There is some availability with regular tickets, including the opening ceremony. Regular tickets also include a lounge that has food, games and more. For Team USA, you could still find hockey, soccer and basketball tickets as of publishing. The lowest price we found for tickets was about $200.

Total cost

So in general, the lowest cost for a plane ticket, accommodations and a ticket to an event could cost about $2,600 to $3,000. Of course, that doesn't account for ways you could save, like staying with a friend or eating out.
