Road to Rio: Jenny Arthur

Jenny Arthur is a first-time Olympian. She qualified for the 2016 summer games by earning the top cumulative score of any U.S. weightlifter at the 2014 and 2015 world championships.

BIRTHDAY: December 11, 1993

HOMETOWN: Colorado Springs, Colo. (born in Gainesville, Ga.)

OLYMPIC HIGHLIGHTS: Arthur was the first to qualify for the 2016 Games. She will be the first athlete to represent Team USA in the 75 kg. weight class since Cara Heads-Lane in 2000, when women made their Olympic debut in the sport.

OTHER CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:Two-time national champion, a junior world silver medalist and a two-time Pan American Championships silver medalist. Holds the senior and junior American records for the 75 kg. division in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total. She holds the senior and junior American records in the clean and jerk for the 69 kg. division.

OTHER NOTES: She wants to volunteer at homeless shelters around the world because she wants to give back to the community and show the world a positive light.
