ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis native and former McCluer North High School student has a shot at Olympic gold in Paris, but his family is struggling to get there to cheer him on.
Freddie Crittenden III, who attended McCluer North before his family moved to Utica, Michigan, has already made history. His qualifying race at the Olympic Trials in Oregon was the first time in history that the top three finishers all had sub-13 second times. His previous top finish was at the 2023 World Championships, where he placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdle race.
As he prepares to compete on the world stage, his family is trying to raise funds to join Freddie in Paris to support his dreams.
"We have prayed for him and supported him as he chased his dreams over the years, and we hope to continue to support him from Paris this August," Crittenden's family said in a posted GoFundMe. "This GoFundMe exists to raise funds to get Freddie's parents and siblings to Paris so we can cheer him on in person."
As of July 9, the GoFundMe has raised $3,100 out of the $20,000 goal.
