PARIS, France — The Opening Ceremony at the 2024 Paris Olympics is underway!

Twelve St. Louis-area athletes have joined Team USA and thousands of other athletes as they sailed along the River Seine toward the Eiffel Tower.

Ballwin native and world-decorated diver Tyler Downs is at the Olympics. He qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when he was 17 and the now 21-year-old is back representing Team USA in Paris.

Tyler's mom Teri Lewis Downs shared a photo with 5 On Your Side's Rene Knott as he gets ready for the Opening Ceremony.

He is pictured with National Basketball Star Steph Curry, who is representing Team USA for the first time.
