According to the Rio 2016 website, each athlete is getting a wooden sculpture of the Rio 2016 logo, instead of flowers like usual. It sounds like it's all a part of a sustainability effort by Olympic organizers. The silver medals at the Rio games are made up of 30 percent of recycled material.
