ST. LOUIS — Monster truck icon and creator of Bigfoot, Bob Chandler, is being inducted into the Specialty-Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Hall of Fame.
This is a huge deal for anyone involved in Motorsports and for anyone that knows, it's comparable to a baseball player being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Bruce Crower and Marla Moore will join Chandler as these three will be recognized as part of the SEMA Installation and Gala on Friday, July 26 at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, California.
Chandler created Bigfoot in 1975 in St. Louis at the time when monster trucks didn’t even exist.
Bigfoot gained national attention at car shows, made television appearances and paved the way for an entire market of monster trucks today.
Because of the growing popularity of Bigfoot, many people were inspired and the “monster truck” was being cloned all over the country.
Eventually that's how the truck racing industry started which led to Chandler becoming the co-founder of the Monster Truck Racing Association (MTRA).
Chandler has already been inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame and was inducted into the first class of honorees in the International Monster Truck Museum Hall of Fame.
KSDK originally created a story about Chandler creating his Bigfoot company in Pacific, Missouri.
