MISSOURI, USA — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) announced Monday that over 90,000 deer were harvested over the weekend.
During the opening weekend of the November portion of firearms deer season, 90,334 deer were harvested. According to preliminary data, 53,159 were antlered bucks, 7.163 were button bucks and 30,012 were does.
MDC reported that Franklin County was the top harvest county with 2,114 deer. Texas County followed with 1,825 and Howell County with 1,726.
“With the cool mornings and comfortable afternoons, it would have been hard to ask for more pleasant conditions to be deer hunting this past weekend,” said MDC Cervid Program Supervisor Jason Isabelle.
According to a press release, the 2023 opening weekend harvest was similar to the previous five-year average. In 2022, hunters harvested 93,355 deer in the opening weekend.
